Japonlar, dış uzayda güneş enerjisi santrali kuracak, santralin üreteceği enerji lazer veya mikrodalga olarak yeryüzüne nakledilecek.

The $21bn (£13bn) government-backed project includes plans for the construction of a solar space station comprising four square kilometres of solar panels with a total capacity of 1GW – enough to supply about 294,000 homes in Tokyo, according to a statement posted yesterday on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry web site. Türkiye, güneş enerjisini daha verimli kullanma adına cesur bir adım atıyor. Kurulacak ‘Güneş Enerjisi Araştırma Merkezi’ ile enerjinin daha ucuz ve sağlıklı elde edilmesinin yolları keşfedilecek.
Türkiye, enerji ihtiyacının güneş santrallerinden karşılanmasını sağlayacak teknolojilerin geliştirileceği ‘Güneş Enerjisi Araştırma Merkezi (GÜNAM)’ kuruluyor. Bu alanda dünyada gelişen teknolojileri ucuza imal etmenin yollarını araştıracak merkezin yetkilileri, kullanılmayan arazilere ve çatılara kurulacak panellerle ülkemizin tüm enerjisinin karşılanacağına dikkat çekiyor. ODTÜ bünyesinde kurulacak merkeze Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı (DPT) mali destek veriyor. GÜNAM Proje Koordinatörü Prof. Dr. Raşit Turan, üniversitenin güneş enerjisi teknolojileri üzerine 20 yıldır çalışmalarını sürdürdüğünü anlattı. Özel sektörün ihtiyacına yönelik teknolojilerin geliştirileceğini bildiren Turan, “Küçük bir hesapla Ankara’da 900 kilometrekarelik alanı güneş panelleriyle kapladığınızda, Türkiye’nin bütün enerji ihtiyacının karşılanacağını görürsünüz. Solar/wind hybrid racecar, it looked little more than the dream of idealistic high school students. Now, they have released computer renderings that make the alternative-energy racer look one step closer to reality.
Eighteen-year-olds Rory Handel and Maxx Bricklin believe their vehicle can use strategically placed wind turbines and solar panels as a means for powering the car. Energy would be stored in ultracapacitors to provide instantaneous boosts of power. They believe this would result in a 0-60mph time below four seconds. Top speed would reach 155 mph.

Bu yıl ilk defa düzenlenen Green Dot Awards’da (Uluslararası Çevreci Tasarım Yarışması), ODTÜ öğretim üyesi Dr. Hakan Gürsu başkanlığındaki Designnobis grubu ve ODTÜ öğrencilerinden oluşan ekibi, 3 dalda ödül kazanarak büyük bir başarıya imza attı. 52 ülkeden 1000 ‘in üzerinde proje katıldığı yarışmada, Volitan adlı teknolojik ve çevreci tekne projesi, ulaştırma dalında birinci oldu. Ayrıca, Türk tasarım ekibinin Aqua-Trap (Su kapanı) projesi çevreci ürün grubunda ikincilik, Fire Knight (Susuz orman yangını söndürme aracı) projesi kavramsal dalda mansiyon kazandı. Ekibin yürütücülüğünü yapan Dr. Hakan Göksu ve başarıya katkı sağlayan ekip projelerini NTVMSNBC’ye anlattı.

Günümüzde hemen tüm tüketici elektroniği ürününün kullandığı LCD’lerde (likit kristal ekran) kullanılan aydınlatma sistemleri, özellikle MP3 oynatıcılar, dizüstü bilgisayarlar ve akıllı telefonlarda pil ömrünün düşük olmasında en büyük etken.
