Parmak izinden yüz tanımlama sistemi

zaman-Gazi Üniversitesi (GÜ) Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü Öğretim Üyesi Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu başkanlığında yürütülen bir projeyle, dünyada ilk kez parmak izinden yüz tanımlayan bir sistem geliştirildi.

Prof. Dr. Sağıroğlu, ”www.fingerprint2face.org” internet sitesine parmak izlerini gönderenlerin yüzlerinin tanımlanacağını da bildirdi.
GÜ Rektörlüğünde proje hakkında bilgi veren Prof. Dr. Sağıroğlu, yaklaşık 8 yıldır üzerinde çalıştığı ve bugüne kadar 150 parmak izinden yola çıkarak, bu kişilerin yüzlerini tanımlamayı, yüzde 3-5 yanılma payı ile başardıklarını söyledi.

Biri tamamen geri dönüştürülmüş plastik su şişelerinden üretilen MOTO W233, diğeri dokunmatik bir tablet görünümünde olan MOTOSURF A3100 MOTO W233 Renew, karbon ayak izlerini azaltmayı hedefliyor. Plastik kasası geri dönüştürülmüş su şişelerinden elde edilen malzemeyle üretilen Renew’in kendisi de yüzde yüz geri dönüştürülebilir bir ürün, ayrıca Renew dünyanın karbon dengesi nötrleştirilmiş ilk telefonu olma özelliğine de sahip. As its name suggests the Motorola Renew is made of a plastic housing that is 100 percent recyclable. It’s also the world’s first carbon neutral phone. More specifically, the Motorola Renew is made from plastic comprised of recycled bottles, which means 20 percent less energy is needed to create the phone compared to standard plastic processes.

Korea-based LG has introduced its latest mobile device, the LG-GD910 wrist-phone featuring support for both 3G and HSDPA technology. The user interface is presented through a 1.43-inch color LCD touchscreen, while a video camera has been integrated into the watch face for video recording or conferencing. The device also offers text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities, Bluetooth, MP3 playback and voice dialing with speech recognition. The company claims download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps when using HSDPA. The LG-GD910 is scheduled for an official debut at CES in January. European and Korean customers will have the first opportunity to purchase the new wrist phones, although pricing has not yet been announced.

The world’s biggest cellphone maker, Finland’s Nokia, has applied for a patent that could eventually result in a phone or other portable electronic device that folds in four. According to the concept illustrations, two of the folding panels might be dedicated to the screen, while the other pair might form a large QWERTY keyboard, allowing for a notebook-like interface. It is not known whether the device will indeed be a smartphone, a UMPC or something in-between.

If and when the device goes into production, it is unknown whether or not it will use a flexible display, like the OLED panel recently shown off in a Samsung concept device, or two separate screens placed side-by-side. The former may be the most likely, however. [via UberGizmo]
