ASELSAN, MAGIC-2010′da dünya çapında ilk 10 takım arasında

İnsansız sistemleri ana faaliyet alanlarından birisi olarak belirleyen ASELSAN, uluslararası İnsansız Araçlar Yarışması MAGIC-2010′da dünya çapında ilk 10 takım arasına girmeyi başardı ve 50 bin dolarlık ödül kazandı.

The company was recently selected as one of the top 10 teams out of 12 competitors in the Multi Autonomous Ground-robotic International Challenge (MAGIC 2010), which is jointly sponsored by the Australian and US departments of defense to attract innovative proposals from worldwide research organizations. The competition’s primary objective is to create a challenge to encourage companies to make efforts to develop next-generation fully autonomous ground vehicle systems that can be deployed effectively in military operations and civilian emergency situations.

Energy would be stored in ultracapacitors to provide instantaneous boosts of power. They believe this would result in a 0-60mph time below four seconds. Top speed would reach 155 mph.

Mercedes-Benz SPLITVIEW Screen Technology

Bu teknolojiyle iki farklı kişi aynı ekrandan istediği programı seyredebilecek. 2009 yazında Mercedes S sınıfında bu teknolojiyi görebileceğiz.

Sometimes when two or more people disagree, it’s best to split them up. Mercedes-Benz is thinking along the same lines with its new SPLITVIEW technology which will premier where else but in the S-Class in summer 2009. The technology’s premise is to basically allow two different programmes to be viewed from the same 8-inch screen.

How does it work? Basically the in-dash monitor shows a backlit active matrix TFT-LCD screen that shows two different images at the same time by placing pixels adjacent to each other. Then a filter which masks the display separates the mixed pixels making one or the other image viewable depending on the seating position. This results in two different images being shown.

SPLITVIEW is developed by Mercedes in conjunction with Bosch and it integrates with COMAND. The front passenger can then watch movies or television while the driver concentrates on the road. To further split the two, headphones can be used to insulate the driver from whatever soundtrack is being played from the other “screen”.

2010 Lincoln MKT and MKS will park themselves with Active Park Assist

Ford has announced that it will take on Lexus with a new feature called Active Park Assist for its Lincoln brand. The new feature will be available in mid-2009 on the 2010 Lincoln MKS sedan and the new 7-seater Lincoln MKT Crossover that will make its debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show next month.

The Active Park Assist uses an ultrasonic-based sensing system and Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) to position the vehicle for parallel parking. It the calculates the optimal steering angle and quickly steers the vehicle into a parking spot.

1) 5-6 Mart 2009 tarihlerinde üçüncüsü yapılacak olan robot yarışmasına Türkiye’de faaliyetlerini sürdüren resmi ve özel üniversitelerin ve ortaöğretim seviyesindeki okulların öğrencilerinden oluşan gruplar katılabilecektir. Ancak yüksek öğretim öğrencileri okullarından gerekli izni almaları kaydıyla bireysel olarak da katılabilirler. (Doktora ve Yüksek lisans öğrencileri bu yarışmalara katılamazlar.)
